Fast-acting solution for nuisance flatworms. Large, unchecked populations of flatworms create living mats that smother and deprive corals of food and light. Salifert Flatworm eXit works within 30 minutes for fast and effective relief of nuisance worms. Use with existing reef aquariums with flatworm infestations or use Salifert Flatworm eXit as part of a quarantine regimen before introducing new coral or live rock into your display aquarium. Remove dead flatworms after use and run activated carbon. Use 4 drops for every 5 gallons. 10 ml bottle treats approximately 300 gallons.

Directions for Use
Read all the Instructions before treatment.

Flatworm eXit itself is quite safe to fish and invertebrates. However, the body fluids of flatworms can be toxic to some reef inhabitants when present in high concentrations. This fluid is sometimes excreted when flatworms die.

When using this product it is important to first:

  • Siphon out as many flatworms as possible.
  • Keep sufficient fresh activated carbon in a canister ready.
  • Turn off UV, ozonizer, and remove activated carbon. Keep the skimmer turned on.

Important Remarks:
The following remarks are meant to reduce the amount of toxic flatworm body fluids in the water.

Many people have treated their reef tank(s) successfully using Flatworm eXit without any problems. It is important to reduce the number of flatworms prior to treatment and actively reduce the amount of toxic flatworm body fluid released when they die.

Do not underestimate the number of flatworms in your system. In a few cases a significant number of flatworms can be hiding in crevices. Blow water into crevices and other potential hiding places with a powerhead or a turkey baster. Siphon out all flatworms.

Do not underestimate the amount of toxic body fluids these flatworms can excrete. Siphoning out flatworms prior to treatment can reduce the amount of toxins significantly. Further significant reduction is accomplished by siphoning dead flatworms after the treatment.

Any body fluid released by dead flatworms has to be reduced further by using about 1 pound of fresh, high-quality activated carbon for every 50 gallons. The carbon has to be used in a canister with a sufficient forced water flow.

Take sufficient time when treating your aquarium. That is, do not treat your aquarium in a hurry. Also, take time to monitor your aquarium for at least 6 hours after treatment.

It is also a good idea to have premixed saltwater on hand if a 25% water change is required.
