FilterAir 30 Low Flow filter system is a simple sponge filter filtration system that is easy to use. The sponge filter assists in the breakdown of harmful waste, providing a healthy environment for your aquarium inhabitants. Low flow filters are ideal for fish that are sensitive to high flow and assists in keeping fry, shrimp or vulnerable fish safe when unable to withstand a standard filter intake.

Air Pump Method: Attach one end of an air line into the air inlet and the other end into an air pump. You can reduce air flow by either turning the pump down, by using an inline air tap, or by clamping the air line. eQuaria recommends that you install a check valve between the pump and the filter to stop hydrostatic pressure forcing water up the air line and into the pump. The installation of a check valve also prevents water siphoning out of your aquarium through the air line in the event of power failure.
Powerhead Method: Attach a small powerhead to the uplift pipe of the filter. If the filter is being used in a breeding tank containing fry, make sure the pump is not too large or fry may be sucked into the filter media.
To keep your filter biologically active, do not rinse in chlorinated tap water. Always remove water from your aquarium with which to clean and rinse your filter. Empty a small amount of aquarium water into a bucket and squeeze the sponge out several times until clean. Discard the used water in the bucket and do not add it back to the aquarium.
To replace the sponge, remove the clear plastic pipe and then detach the air line from the FilterAir 30 Low Flow assembly. Firmly grasp the cap and separate from the stem and base. The sponge can now be removed and replaced.
