Rikka pH Test Kit 5.0 to 9.0 – suitable for pond and aquarium use
Check out our quick video on how easy it is to test the pH of your aquarium water.
The level of Acidity or Alkalinity in aquarium water is broadly referred to as the pH level. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14, with Acidic being at 0 and Alkaline being at 14. A pH level of 7 is said to be neutral.
Different fish and plant species like different levels of pH depending on which part of the world they comer from and the unique environmental factors to which they are native. So it carries forward that good fishkeeping involves the ability to be able to monitor and adjust water pH if and when required.
Rikka freshwater test kits have been developed and manufactured in Europe and allow accurate measurement and control of water parameters. Directly comparable to the most popular test kits currently in Australia, these kits are exceptional value.
It should be noted that while different fish have different native pH requirements, most fish can acclimate to pH levels outside of their normal liking as long as there are no sudden changes. A sudden change or large jump in pH levels can be fatal to your fish and extra care should be taken if you intend to buffer your aquarium water.
