GH 200W Quartz Glass Heater
GH Quartz Heater range utilises high quality, shatter-resistant quartz glass and incorporates thermal cut-off technology. Fish are kept safe with the heater casing, preventing them from coming into direct contact with the heating element.
Maintaining water temperature is an essential requirement for keeping fish happy and healthy, especially in tropical aquariums. Aqua One ThermoSafe heaters are made from high quality quartz which makes them durable and shatter resistant. The thermal cut out protection safeguards the heater from damage if accidentally exposed to water shortage.
Tropical Fish typically need water temperatures of 26 degrees (celcius) or higher; in order to reach and maintain these temperatures, a water heater is necessary – and for the most part the stability of water temperature depends on the quality of your heater. Submersible heaters like this one here do just as stated, they are 100% submerged within the aquarium and must stay submerged when in operation to avoid any damage to the heating element. Temparature shock is also a consideration you should have when handling and working with glass heaters as sudden emmersion of a hot heater in cold water or vice versa can result in glass breakage and possible injury.
Make sure you read the instructions for your heater and that you are familiar with the controls and readings given. Most submersible heaters, such as Aqua Ones thermosafe range, are thermostat controlled to prevent overheating. External thermostats can also be used to ensure that overheating does not occur as fish can be effectively cooked at 30 degrees.
Just as tanks and aquarium come in different shapes and sizes, aquarium heaters come in a wide range of sizes with an assortment of features and at a variety of price points as well.
As a general rule a 50watt aquarium heater can effectively heat around 50 litres of water. A 100watt heater around 100 litres and so on. Some high end heaters made by companies like Oase, Schego, Eheim or Juwel will have heating capacities that outweigh the wattage shown due to superior materials and manufacture processes. For normal Australian conditions however, standard Aqua One heaters are more than adequate.
